A Third-Generation Hypnosis Paradigm

The Ultra Depth™ Process did not remain a fixed historical method. Within ICS, it stands as the structural foundation of a broader framework — one that carries the Sichort–Ramey lineage forward while integrating it into a contemporary paradigm of consciousness and practice. To understand Ultra Depth™ within ICS is to see both where the Process sits and what makes it structurally distinct from ordinary deep hypnosis.

What ICS Means

ICS stands for Inner Communication with Self by PRESENCE. The name reflects its central orientation: that genuine inner work begins not with technique but with Presence, and that from Presence arises authentic communication between the conscious mind and the subconscious. Within this framework, the subconscious is approached not as something to be managed or reprogrammed, but as an independent dimension of consciousness — described in various traditions as the true self, original nature, or soul — a partner in cooperation rather than an object of control.

This is, at its root, a change in how the human being is understood — and that is what a paradigm is. A paradigm is a way of seeing; and when the way we see and understand a person changes, the tools we use to work with that person must change as well. The earlier, suggestion-based model carried real practical value, but it rested on a particular view of the mind, and at the limits of that view much stood in need of revision. This is what ICS calls a third-generation hypnosis paradigm: not a new collection of techniques, but a changed way of seeing, from which a different relationship to the subconscious — and different tools — naturally follow.

Ultra Depth™ at the Foundation

The Ultra Depth™ Process is the structural core around which ICS is organized. The lineage that Walter Sichort discovered and James R. Ramey developed concentrated on communication with the subconscious — establishing the conditions in which the subconscious can come forward, and then cooperating with it. ICS preserves this entirely and builds upon it. Where the lineage focused on communication, ICS recognizes that communication alone is not enough: without purification, communication tends to distort, while as purification proceeds, communication naturally deepens. This is why ICS rests on two structural pillars — ICS Hypnosis, the technical system that includes the Ultra Depth™ Process, and ICS Purification and Communication, a lifelong practice that addresses the fixation of the ego itself.

A Different Order of Depth

What distinguishes Ultra Depth™ from ordinary deep hypnosis is not the intensity of the response but the level at which it operates. Conventional approaches measure depth by the range of phenomena a subject can produce — suggestibility, amnesia, anesthesia — and these measures have genuine practical value. But a reproducible response is not the same as a structurally equivalent one. A state reached through conditioning can resemble a deep state on the surface while arising from an entirely different layer. Beyond verified depth, the Ultra Depth™ Process reaches a point where the operational structure itself transitions: the subconscious is no longer hindered by the conscious mind and can act directly. The lineage named this subconscious override, and redefined hypnosis accordingly — as a state in which the conscious is bypassed and the subconscious takes operational priority. At this verified depth, the subconscious becomes the primary organizing principle of experience — not in the sense that change occurs automatically, but in that its pace, direction, and integration are led from within rather than imposed from outside. This is the structural distinction that ordinary depth scales, built to measure intensity along a single continuum, were never designed to capture.

An Integrative Paradigm

Around this foundation, ICS integrates a range of established and original methods, each holding its own place within the whole. Regression Therapy and Parts Therapy function as instruments of purification, addressing the fixed patterns and conditioned responses that obstruct depth. Alongside these, ICS develops a broader body of its own programs — the ICS Purification and Communication practice described above, the ICS Spiritual Insight Process (ISIP), ICS Self-Hypnosis, the ICS Money Matrix Protocol, the ICS Healing Circle, and the ICS Enneagram among them — together with approaches such as EFT. In this structure, hypnosis is never an end in itself. It is a tool, one that reaches its fullest expression only in service of Presence and genuine inner communication, and through which inner transformation can unfold responsibly and sustainably. This is the sense in which Ultra Depth™ lives within ICS: not as a preserved relic of the lineage, but as the structural ground of a developing third-generation paradigm.
