Ultra Depth™ as an Evolving Framework within ICS
The origins of Ultra Depth™ can be traced to the mid-1960s,
when Walter Sichort first identified and explored unusually deep states
of relaxation and consciousness that extended beyond the conventional
hypnotic depth recognized at the time.
Building upon these discoveries, James Ramey, a direct student of
Walter Sichort, later systematized this work into what he formally named
the Ultra Depth™ Process.
This process does not describe “the deepest possible state” of hypnosis.
Rather, it defines a precisely specified hypnotic depth, verified through
clear and overt criteria—most notably, complete hypnotic amnesia—
and the structured conditions that arise from that verified depth.
Within this lineage, depth is not created by suggestion alone,
nor by reading scripts that describe subsequent experiential states.
Depth must be authentically achieved, and within the structured
Ultra Depth™ staging process, accurate verification plays a central role
in ensuring clarity, reliability, and consistency in what follows.
When this foundational depth is insufficient, externally suggested
“advanced states” may appear convincing on the surface,
yet are significantly more likely to remain pseudo-states
rather than fully verified Ultra Depth™ responses.
James Ramey emphasized that what follows profound somnambulism
does not represent “deeper hypnosis” in a linear sense.
Instead, these experiences reflect distinct experiential domains
that may emerge from a verified depth.
Responses associated with conditions such as Esdaile or Sichort
are therefore recognized as legitimate target states within
the Ultra Depth™ lineage, yet they are not produced through
direct suggestion or forced imagery.
They arise naturally as verified depth stabilizes.
Within the Ultra Depth™ context, such states are not understood
as externally manipulated conditions, but as subconscious-led states.
They are governed not by ego-directed control, but by the activation
of the subconscious itself.
At verified Ultra Depth™, the subconscious becomes the primary
organizing principle of experience.
This does not imply that healing processes occur automatically
or indiscriminately, but that the pace, direction, and integration
of healing are led by the subconscious rather than imposed from outside.
In Ultra Depth™, the subconscious is defined not as a collection
of unconscious programs or psychological resources,
but as the essential self beyond ego structures—
whether referred to as the true self, original nature, or soul—
a form of intelligence vastly greater than conscious cognition.
ICS (Inner Communication with Self by PRESENCE)
is an integrative framework that supports conscious self-growth
through presence-based inner communication.
ICS integrates third-generation hypnosis with the path of
Purification and Communication, forming a balanced structure
through which inner transformation may unfold responsibly
and sustainably.
Within the ICS context, Ultra Depth™ is neither treated as
a closed system nor merely preserved as a historical method.
Rather, it is carried forward as a living process—
one that honors its original lineage and verification standards,
while being integrated, refined, and developed within a broader
contemporary framework of research, education, and professional practice.
